Executive Director of Doctors Without Borders
Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is an international humanitarian organization. Founded in 1971 by a small group of French doctors, it is committed to providing emergency medical care to victims of the South Asia tsunami, people caught in armed conflicts, epidemics, natural and mad-made disasters. Doctors Without Borders won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1999. Nicolas de Torrente is Executive Director of Doctors Without Borders in the United States. A Swiss national, Mr. de Torrente has worked extensively for the organization and holds three degrees in International Studies, Law and Diplomacy, and Economics. His work has taken him to Somalia, Liberia, the Congo and Afghanistan investigating the humanitarian crisis.

Mikhail Gorbachev -
Former President of the Soviet Union & Nobel Laureate

Gorbachev served as leader of the Soviet Union from 1985 until its dissolution in 1991. Known as a reformer, he began to democratize the oppressive system he inherited, bringing an end to Communist rule in the USSR and Eastern Europe. He helped bring about the end of the Cold War by signing two broad disarmament pacts with the West. He initiated a period of "perestroika,"  or government reform, that ushered in democratic and capitalist reforms in the USSR and implemented a policy of "glasnost," or openness. The country began to open public discussions about current and historical problems to the media and international community. His extraordinary achievements, earned him the 1990 Nobel Peace Prize.
